Bill Wilson started multiple programs in Louisville that still stand today. He began the SOAR program (Summer Outdoor Adventure Recreation) which was a program designed to give children activity in the summer. This program was located at Algonquin park, a park in a neighborhood in the ninth ward where he represented. Bill Wilson also began the House Painting Program, this program allowed the residents of Bill Wilson's ward to get free paint on their houses if they were home owners. This program was so successful that other wards in Louisville also used this program as well. Bill Wilson also started the Fire prevention program, this program gave citizens free fire extinguishers and placed fire alarms in homes upon request. Bill Wilson also began the Metro Bus for seniors which created availability of buses running in certain areas that gave them the ability to become mobile around the community for free. Another one of Bill Wilson's contributions was his senior prescription drug program which allowed seniors to get prescription drugs for less.
